The Secretary General of the Turkic Council Halil Akinci paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of TURKSOY on January 19th, 2012. Mr. Akinci who was welcomed by TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov met with representatives of TURKSOY member countries and visited the premises of the organization.
Mr. Akinci who reminded about the fact that TURKSOY is organizing major cultural events, said that the Turkic Council is ready and willing to provide any kind of support necessary to TURKSOY’s activities. Mr. Akinci also said that they are planning to establish a “Turkic Culture Fund” with a view to supporting these activities. Mr. Akinci who said that through this fund TURKSOY will be provided with additional resources also stressed the fact that this will allow all Turkic organizations to mutally support eachother. Mr. Akinci who also said that the Turkic Academy is a further step on the way to this unification, added that the aim of the Turkic Council is to ensure coordination in the field of foreign policy.
Mr. Akinci further stressed the fact that Turkic States must unite not only in matters of foreign policy but also in the fields of education and culture and gave the importance of a common alphabet as an example. Mr. Akinci who announced that a Committee of Common Vocabulary will be established, said: “The alphabet we use is the Latin alphabet, but there is no comprehensive unity between our alphabets. Yet, we all should have one common alphabet. What we are planning to do is to create a Committee of Common Vocabulary to unveil the diversity and richness of our language”.
Mr. Akinci who ended his words by saying that the 21st Century will be the “Century of Turkic Peoples” also reiterated the willingness of the Turkic Council to further stand in a relation of close cooperation with TURKSOY. Mr. Akinci’s visit ended with group photographs taken as a remembrance of his visit to TURKSOY.
